West Bend Council approves consent agenda including liquor license transfer, device license and small donations

The West Bend Common Council approved its consent agenda on Feb. 3, 2025, by unanimous voice vote, clearing a package of routine items including a liquor license transfer, an amusement device permit and several small appropriations and donations.
The council approved the transfer of the Barton House LLC liquor license after a brief request that the police chief review the application. Police Chief Moyler told the council the department “review[s] all applications for liquor license permits, premises, and we'll only submit a memo to you when we're officially asking for a denial,” and that the department follows state statute standards that limit consideration of arrests or convictions to conduct within a reasonable period and job-related offenses. Chief Moyler said the applicant had two violations within five years but “none that point to job related,” putting the application “in compliance with state statutes.”
The council also approved a Tequileria amusement-device license application that had been included in the packet, and accepted small donations to the Fire Department, including a $100 donation from Susan Galki earmarked for the department's smoke-detector/CO program. Two separate resolutions authorizing appropriation of funds from the sale of surplus equipment (proceeds from 2024 and 2025 sales) also passed as part of the consent agenda.
All consent items were adopted on a single voice vote after questions about whether any item should be removed for separate consideration were addressed. Mayor and aldermen present signified assent by saying “Aye.”

The council did not remove any consent item for separate vote and the consent agenda passed in full. The police chief reiterated that the department will monitor licensed premises and bring forward any compliance issues.
