Commission hears update on Ridge Run Jim and Anne White family cabin; bid rejected, staff to obtain informal quotes
Summary
Parks staff reported that only one bid was received for the Jim and Anne White family cabin renovation at Ridge Run and it exceeded budget. The common council rejected the bid; staff will solicit informal quotes from local contractors and aims to complete work in spring 2025.

At its June 27 meeting the West Bend City Parks and Recreation Commission received an update on the Jim and Anne White family cabin renovation at Ridge Run.
Rick, a project manager with the parks department, told commissioners the project was presented to the commission in April, was publicly bid in May and had a bid opening on June 5. The department received a single bid that was significantly over budget; staff recommended rejecting that bid and the common council rejected it on June 17.
Rick said staff now plan to “quote the work informally” with area contractors that had previously expressed interest but declined to submit bids because of schedule conflicts. He said some contractors are booked through the rest of the year and that staff hopes to collect quotes in July. That schedule would delay the project from an initial target completion of March 1, 2025, but Rick said the department still expects to complete work in time for the 2025 rental season.
Commissioners asked no further substantive questions and the item moved on to new business.
This was an informational update; no formal action or appropriation on the project was recorded at the meeting.
