Finance Director Lou Vitola recommended the City of Milford exercise the final one-year option with auditor ZA for fiscal-year 2025 audit services, and the Finance Committee voted to recommend that action to the full council at its next meeting.
Vitola said staff and the auditor agreed that extending ZA for FY25 would provide continuity while the city's new ERP platform, Tyler, completes its first full audited year. "We'd like to award the fiscal 25 audit services to ZA as well for a variety of reasons," Vitola said, citing cost, the value of continuity on the new ERP platform and a desire not to signal an immediate market search.
City Manager Mark and other committee members discussed procedure: formal contract extension requires council action. The committee moved and seconded a recommendation to forward the extension to council; members present voted "aye" on the committee motion. Vitola said he would prepare a memorandum reflecting the committee recommendation for the council agenda in February.
Committee members who spoke in favor said a one-year extension would avoid disrupting the audit during the system transition and that ZA's fee appeared favorable compared with the market proxy provided by last year's RFP. If the full council declines to extend the option, staff said they would issue an RFP promptly.
The committee recorded the recommendation to council; no final contract award was made at the committee level and the council will take the formal vote to authorize the extension.
