Council hears first reading to activate IT revenue fund for Grand Park technology and event support

Christopher Larson, the city's director of informatics, presented a first-reading appropriation on March 24 to activate funds in the IT revenue fund for technology infrastructure, maintenance and staffing support related to Grand Park and special events.
Larson said the IT revenue fund held dormant funds that the city can now put to use to maintain technology systems installed for Grand Park and to support IT staff time at major events. He described one recent example in which international event IT staff reviewed local infrastructure and city IT staff were needed on site to coordinate. The ordinance will be eligible for final consideration on April 14.
The council opened a public hearing at 8:05 p.m. and closed it immediately with no public comment. Staff said the appropriation will finance repairs, upgrades and staff event support; no final dollar amounts were given at first reading.
