County hears presentation on draft 2025 Chambers County thoroughfare plan

Good morning, commissioners. My name is Carlene Mullins. I am a principal planner at HGAC in the transportation department, and we're here today to present to you, the draft 2025 Chambers County thoroughfare plan.
The draft plan, presented by HGAC principal planner Carlene Mullins and consultant Ryan Uhrick of Kimley-Horn, lays out a countywide map of roadway classifications and recommended rights-of-way intended to guide long-range development and preserve future corridor space. "It is a long range plan, and what it does is it preserves that right of way so the county can have...something enforceable to where when development comes, we can have good development," Uhrick told the court during the presentation.
Why it matters: Commissioners were told the plan is intended to improve connectivity, address peak-hour congestion on corridors such as I-10, improve safety at problematic intersections, and support regional economic competitiveness while conserving natural and cultural resources. The consultants…
