Weber County Commission staff proposed raising the county transfer station tipping fee by about $2.15 per ton, from $50 to $52.15, during a discussion at a Commission meeting. Staff said the recommendation reflects a 4.3% increase intended to cover most, but not all, of recent cost increases.
The recommendation matters because Republic Services raised its rate to the county by $1.57 per ton and payroll-related costs presented to the county amount to roughly $0.67 per ton. "If you take the 67¢ per ton plus the dollar 57, we're passing through from the public, that'd be $2.24 a ton," Scott, a staff member for the Weber County Commission, told commissioners.
