The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee on March 24 approved revised language that redirects previously accepted transportation allocations toward a single residential mobility arterial connecting a U.S. highway to a state highway.
Legislative staff described the new language as replacing two earlier allocations: one that directed $13.2 million to a town-center arterial with 10,000 annual average daily traffic, and another that had allocated $50 million to a widening and bridge reconstruction project for congestion mitigation. The new language directs $8,000,000 from Tecum distributions and $19,200,000 from a previously approved general fund transfer to projects described as work on a residential mobility arterial.
Mr. Prier (Legislative Services Office analyst) told the committee both pieces of new language are intended for the same residential mobility arterial that links a U.S. highway and a state highway. Representative Handy offered the motion to accept the new language after a unanimous-consent request was objected to by Senator Wintrow. The motion passed: committee totals reported 16 ayes and 4 nays (Senate: 7–3; House: 9–1). Ms. Figueroa recorded the roll call.
The committee’s action replaced the previously accepted text on the record; no further project names, exact locations, or project numbers were specified during the presentation.
