John Neal (Ryland Environmental) explained to the board that local landfill availability shifted after a previous out-of-county option closed and that fees at the landfill currently used have increased. He told the commission the company sought the modest per-can, per-home monthly increase to offset those disposal-cost changes.
Commissioners discussed landfill capacity, the prospect of a local transfer station to reduce hauling costs, and possible future capacity constraints at nearby landfills before approving a motion to accept the rate adjustment. The board recorded the motion as carried in open session.
