Springdale accepts $15,000 county mini‑grant for Mill Creek Connector feasibility study (first reading)

Council on Feb. 5 received a first reading of an ordinance authorizing the mayor and city administrator to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission to accept $15,000 from a mini planning grant program to fund a Mill Creek Connector feasibility study.

The study will examine extending pedestrian and bicycle facilities from Northland Boulevard at Springfield Pike to surrounding trails, including a connection from Glenwood Gardens to Wynton Woods. The ordinance says the city applied for and received $15,000 toward the cost of the study and that a copy of the memorandum is attached as an exhibit.

Mr. Jacobs, Councilmember, read the ordinance (6‑20‑25) into the record and noted the ordinance contains a clause finding that formal actions were taken in open meetings, citing Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. Council took no vote on final passage; the item was presented as a first reading and will return at a future meeting for further consideration.

The ordinance text states the memorandum of understanding is intended to accept funding through the county program to complete the feasibility study; no contract or consultant was approved at this meeting.
