Town unveils new online GIS map and public interface; staff-only features for integrated records

Planning staff demonstrated a new online Geographic Information System (GIS) vendor, CAI Technologies, that the town has contracted to replace the existing mapping tool. Nicole from the Planning Department showed a preview of the public interface and said staff-level password-protected access will allow internal teams to view infrastructure layers that are not public.
Nicole said the new system will allow more frequent updates and better integration with the assessor's database and the town's building permit software (Viewpoint). She demonstrated property lookup, a record-card snapshot including owner information and photos, zoning layers, and multiple base-map imagery options. The new platform will also host plat maps that were previously distributed as separate PDF documents.
The planning department expects to bring the new GIS online within days of the meeting and will publicize the launch on the town's social media channels. Nicole asked users who need assistance to call the planning office for help navigating the updated interface.
