The Skagway Planning and Zoning Commission approved Resolution 25-02 on Feb. 13, 2025, granting Skagway Commercial Company LLC a building height exemption for a proposed project, the commission said.
The vote came after a brief discussion of the application; Commissioner Tom Silva, acting for the absent chair and vice chair, moved to approve the resolution and the motion passed on a 3-0 roll call vote. Commissioners McBee and Outcall voted with Silva.
Commissioners said they had discussed the exemption at a prior meeting and determined the requested height would not impede surrounding properties. No public testimony was recorded on the variance at the meeting.
The commission did not attach additional conditions during the vote. The resolution was adopted by roll call with three affirmative votes and no recorded no or abstain votes.
The action permits the applicant to proceed under the terms in the approved resolution; further permits or inspections required by code remain separate processes and were not changed at this hearing.
A record of the resolution will be included in planning files; the commission moved immediately to subsequent public hearings after adopting the resolution.
