Members discussed staffing and logistics. Committee members said one volunteer should be present at the table for most outreach shifts; if committee members are unavailable the table could be unmanned but clearly labeled as a city display. The group agreed to bring samples (bear‑resistant cans, compost buckets of various sizes and a bucket of finished compost), and to use laminated flyers and a short video or virtual tour to illustrate how town composting works.
Committee members asked Public Works staff to confirm coupon and bucket availability ahead of events. Members said Public Works staffer Tyson had placed Clean Sweep on the Public Works calendar for April 12; the committee noted the municipal visitor events page listed April 19 and asked staff to confirm the final date so outreach materials and social posts reflect the correct day.
The committee also discussed display ideas: a small demonstration about raised (above‑ground) garden beds using large photos rather than building a physical bed indoors, and putting bear cans and compost buckets on view at AB Hall the Friday before the event so attendees can examine them. Members volunteered to clean and bring equipment and to keep a small stock of outreach materials on hand for distribution.
Looking ahead, the committee agreed to finalize posters and social posts that combine the two outreach events under a single “Solid Waste Outreach” graphic, and to coordinate with Skagway Development Corporation (SDC) for the spring training insert. No formal vote was taken on the staffing plan; members left assignments informal and scheduled follow‑up with Public Works to confirm dates and materials.
