Committee forwards multiple staffing contracts and approves summer urgent-care shift plan

The Dahl Memorial Clinic Planning Committee voted to forward several staffing contracts to the full board for approval and discussed operational changes for summer staffing.
Director Wall introduced a registered-nurse contract (agenda item 7B1) and said Shauna Thomas will not be available this summer because she is in nurse-practitioner school. Wall said the committee is contracting with multiple nurses for the summer; "for RNs, specifically, we are hiring 3," Wall said. A motion to forward the individual registered-nurse contract to the board passed; no opposition was recorded.
Wall described how the clinic will shift urgent-care staffing from an on-call model to scheduled shifts. "They'll just be on shift for 24 hours at a time," Wall said, describing the move to reduce staff fatigue and respond to higher emergency-service volumes during tourist season. The director noted the clinic had 99 urgent-care calls in August of the prior year and expects a high volume this summer. Wall said one nurse will be dedicated to primary care, one to emergency services and one will be a floater. The director also said the clinic will add Saturday clinic hours beginning May 1 (weekend hours to be published in clinic materials).
The committee also moved medical-assistant contracts (7B2) and an amendment to the Emergis Healthcare Staffing master services agreement (7B3) to the board. Wall explained Emergis and Wilderness are two recruiting providers used by the clinic; Wilderness is the existing master-services provider for mid-level practitioners and Emergis supplies additional staff this summer. The Emergis amendment adds the clinic—s credentialing requirements to the agency contract; committee members noted Emergis only receives recruitment fees when staff are placed.
Committee members asked about compensation details and contract term dates. Wall clarified an FTCA-related date on one document should read through 2026 and said compensation rates in the MA contract match the clinic—s existing summer arrangements. All staffing items were forwarded to the full board for approval; motions passed without recorded opposition.
