Council votes to discontinue centralized "askcouncil" email address

The North College Hill City Council voted 6-1 on March 17 to eliminate a centralized council email address (askcouncil@northcollegehill.org). The motion was made by Council Member Zorbe and seconded by Council Member Wilson.
Council members said the account had been difficult to access for some council members since February 11 due to changes in VPN and account configuration; Clerk Hedger confirmed he had received the city retention policy and that server-side copies of any existing messages would remain. Council Member Zorbe argued the dedicated address added little value because residents and interested parties can instead email individual council members or the administration using existing addresses.
Council Member Chichester voted against eliminating the address. No additional action on retention policy was taken during the motion; City Administrator Duxtine reminded council that retention policies govern how long records must be kept on the server.
