Senator says budget introduction likely delayed one week

Senator Bridges (Denver Greenwood Village) told colleagues on the Senate floor that the timeline for introducing Colorado's budget appears likely to be delayed by one week.

"At this point, it looks like, almost certainly, the budget will be delayed by 1 week," Bridges said during a brief announcement, urging staff, drafters and committee chairs to expect the introduction to occur a week later than previously planned. She said the change would swap the previously scheduled House and Senate budget weeks—putting the budget introduction in the Senate on the week following the House's originally planned budget week—assuming no further changes to the plan.

Bridges did not give a final, binding date and said the shift was contingent on work still to be completed by drafters and staff. She asked members and staff to plan for an introduction the following Monday rather than the upcoming one and said she would follow up as the schedule is finalized.

No formal motion or vote on the schedule was taken on the floor; the announcement was a floor update from the Majority Leader group and staff and was recorded for planning purposes only.
