Vice Chair Cuff moved the amendment and described its effect: "From what I can see on page 1, it adds in a ... that controlled livestock grazing could be [an] effective tool for managing fuel loads. And then on the back page, it adds grazing in there as well. So it looks like it just adds grazing as a tool for fire prevention," he said. Committee members responded positively; one senator called it a "no brainer amendment" and supported including grazing in the study.
After brief discussion the committee approved the amendment by voice vote with proxy votes entered for members not present. Vice Chair Cuff then moved the bill as amended; the committee approved HB 70 as amended by voice vote and named a sponsor volunteer to carry the measure to the Senate floor.
