Senate committee hears nominees for Board of Dentistry; association endorses appointees

Senate Public Health opened the hearing on Senate Resolution 12 Friday to consider four nominees to the Board of Dentistry: Roderick Griffith (Billings), Robin Hogan (Miles City), Karissa Kingery (dental hygienist) and Christopher Facundo (public member).
Hannah Slusser of the governor’s office told the committee the board consists of 10 members — five dentists, one denturist, two dental hygienists and two public members — and that House Bill 87 (2023) restaggered terms to avoid multiple simultaneous expirations. Kevin Bragg of the Department of Labor and Industry asked the committee to confirm the nominees.
Several nominees and stakeholders testified in support. Dr. Rod Griffith, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Billings who chairs the board’s anesthesia committee, described his background and requested confirmation. Robin Hogan, testifying by phone from Miles City, described experience as a dental assistant, hygienist and dentist and supported her own confirmation. Karissa Kingery, one of the dental hygienists on the board, asked to continue serving. Christopher Facundo, the public member on the board, said he has not missed a meeting since his 2024 appointment and emphasized his interest in representing the public perspective.
Webb Brown of the Montana Dental Association endorsed the nominees. No opponents appeared. The sponsor closed and the committee did not take a vote during the hearing.
