Board member Kleinfelder reported on Butler Tech activities, including an upcoming all-boards dinner and campus showcases and a student award presented to Lily McFarland. He described a May 1 all-boards meeting with a dinner and campus showcases and a separate showcase presentation on April 24.
Kleinfelder said Butler Tech approved 27 policies and two bylaws at a recent meeting. He highlighted an operational policy change permitting seizure kits to carry medication with parental and doctor permission so that medication does not need to be kept in the office only.
Board member Mrs. Webb announced that 18 Ross students qualified for the DECA national competition; she said those students will travel to Orlando, Florida next month to compete and Butler Tech will cover the expense. Several board members encouraged attendance at Butler Tech showcases and noted the culinary arts students will provide dinner at the May 1 event.
Kleinfelder and other board members described the showcases as short student demonstrations across multiple program areas (welding, biomedical, bioscience and natural science, precision machining, culinary arts). Board members expressed enthusiasm and encouraged attendance; no action items or votes were recorded specifically for Butler Tech topics at this meeting.
