Superintendent Dr. Rice told the board the Forward Edge contract will provide services previously handled by a retiring employee and fold in existing smaller expenditures to a single contract. "Replacing Robin's position through this contract will save the district approximately $35,000 each year and it does reduce our administrative staff by 1 across the district," Dr. Rice said. He added the contract formalizes services the district already purchases from Forward Edge.
The board approved one new employment appointment, welcoming Sarah Kiefer back to the district. Dr. Rice said Kiefer previously worked in the district, helped establish the instructional technology specialist position and "brings a wealth of knowledge about our district, our teachers, our students, and our community." The board also approved a resignation for a high-school paraprofessional and said staffing was shifted from another building rather than refilling that position.
Dr. Rice noted the student handbooks linked in the agenda will be updated to include fees approved later in the meeting. He described the handbook items as standard and said the fees would be folded into the handbooks once finalized.
The board also approved the district's annual membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association; Dr. Rice characterized that as "pretty straightforward stuff" and an annual routine approval.
The superintendent's set of recommendations (personnel items, handbooks, Forward Edge contract and the OHSAA membership) were approved by roll call; board members voted unanimously.
