At its March 20 meeting the Marysville Board of Education and district staff recognized students and advisors for academic, career-technical and athletic accomplishments from across the district.
The board honored two National Merit finalists from Marysville High School: Levi Weithman and Aurelia Inskeep. The meeting also recognized two Presidential Scholar nominees, Linnea Olafsson and Levi Weitman. District speakers noted these recognitions are rare for the high school, and encouraged applause for the students.
District staff and coaches then introduced awardees from multiple programs: Early College High School CTSOs (Career and Technical Student Organizations) with students advancing to state and national competitions in BPA (Business Professionals of America), HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and SkillsUSA; winners of the Ohio STEM Learning Network design challenge; and individual athletic honors (including boys soccer standout Miles Armstrong and softball player Maya Segnor). Additional recognitions included cheer teams with top-three national finishes, cross-country and indoor track athletes who qualified for state competition, and students placing at the Ohio Japan Bowl.
Presenters named specific teachers and advisors (for example, Lisa Nemeth, ECHS assistant principal; Doug Hughes and John Brown for BPA; Stephanie Brown, Katie Johnson and Laura Atwood for HOSA). District staff also recognized the district's employee of the month, Amanda (last name not specified in public remarks), for her work in the SAC program.
Ending: Board members and administrators praised students and staff for their accomplishments and thanked families for their support; a group photograph was planned after the recognitions.
