The Seymour City Council on March 20 approved a request to solicit bids and proposals to address a growing brush pile at the Seymour Transfer Station and to seek longer-term, cost-efficient options for daily maintenance.
City staff described the accumulated brush and the need either to chip, burn, haul away the current pile or to identify innovative alternatives that could reduce daily staff time and ongoing disposal costs. The council approved issuing a request for proposals to evaluate chipping, hauling or other maintenance options and to solicit suggestions that might lower future city costs.
The motion to call for bids and proposals passed unanimously, 4-0. Staff said it would evaluate returned proposals and bring recommendations back to council for award or for further action.
