Committee hears updates on Midline Greenway and active-transportation mapping; first phase remains on hold

Committee members provided updates March 14 on the Western Midline Greenway planning and the borough’s active transportation plan.
The chair said she attended a Western Midline Greenway workshop involving township managers, engineers and regional organizations (including the Bicycle Coalition and DVRPC) that is examining extending the Greenway beyond Villanova into neighboring townships. She reported the first phase of Narberth’s mainline Greenway is still on hold while Lower Merion Township finalizes its plans.
Staff also reported that Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) is preparing an interactive web “network analysis” that will present an existing network map (sidewalks, crosswalks, trails, bike lanes), a planned network (projects from capital and comprehensive plans) and a recommended network that fills gaps between the two and identifies intersection-level improvements. Staff said MCPC will share a draft web experience with the steering committee for review; no timeline was available beyond an expected meeting in the coming week.
Committee members asked to be included in the web-display review and to receive drafts when available so they can provide feedback on proposed intersection improvements and recommended connections.
