Temporary speed humps set for Meeting House Lane in mid-April; borough buys reusable units

Narberth staff told the committee March 14 that two temporary speed humps will be installed on Meeting House Lane in mid-April as part of ongoing traffic-calming work. Staff said the borough purchased the removable humps last year under an amended budget and that the two units cost “just shy of $3,300.”
The temporary units are modular and can be removed and redeployed elsewhere, staff said. Installation is expected to take roughly a half day; staff will mail notices to affected houses before installation. Meeting House Lane is also scheduled for paving this summer, and permanent speed humps will be considered in the fall or after the paving work.
Committee members said residents on the block are eager for the measures, and staff confirmed signs, paint and installation tools are on hand. A representative of the fire company said traffic-calming measures can slow emergency apparatus but noted they are part of normal operations and do not present a prohibitive impediment to response routes.
No formal vote was required; staff will notify residents and schedule mid-April installation.
