The Bibb County Regular School District board approved a series of routine and personnel items at its March 11 meeting, including the agenda, minutes, financial reports, a consent agenda block, personnel actions, principal contracts and multiple small vendor payments and substitute appointments. A proposed nonrenewal of a principal's contract did not proceed because no motion or second was made.
The superintendent recommended the agenda and minutes for the Feb. 11 meeting; board members voted to approve both. The board approved financial reports and bank reconciliations for February 2025 and authorized payment of bills and payroll for that month.
The superintendent recommended approval of consent agenda items a through m as a block; the board approved the block. Personnel consent items a through e were also approved as a block.
On personnel and contracts, the board approved principal contracts as follows: Kim Holsenbeck, principal at West Walton Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028; Kristen Leitzy, principal at Woodstock Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028; and a renewal of the principal contract for James Austin at Bibb County High School, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028. A request to approve the nonrenewal of Gregory Blanks' principal contract, effective June 30, 2025, did not receive a motion and therefore was not approved. The board approved the resignation of Russell Wallace, teacher at Dale County High School, effective May 23, 2025, and appointed Amber Graham as majorette sponsor at Bibb County High School.
The board approved multiple single-service contracts and vendor payments funded either from IDEA funds or local school funds. Notable approvals included payments for physical-therapy services: an item described as a virtual physical therapist to assist with observations and assessments for physical-therapy assistants; and a contract with Solent Health LLC to provide a physical-therapy assistant at $70 per hour up to 20 hours per week, to be paid from IDEA funds. The board also approved several short-term instructional and choreography services for marching-band and majorette programs, with amounts and school-fund sources recorded in the motions (examples: Susan Ochs, $75 per session not to exceed $625 from West Walton High School local school funds; Bethany Fields, $800 for a June band-drill session, paid from West Block and High School local funds; Caitlin Holman, $900 for field choreography, paid from West Walton High School local funds; and Kevin Holyfield, $600 for DJ services payable from West Walton High School local funds).
The board approved a slate of substitutes and support-staff subs. The superintendent reported that FMLA leave had been approved for Shamika Tyner, CNP worker at Bibb County High School, for up to 12 weeks; the sick-leave bank committee also approved catastrophic leave for up to six weeks. The board announced statements of economic interest are due April 30, 2025, and set upcoming meeting dates: a work session on Thursday, April 10 at 1 p.m. and a board meeting on Tuesday, April 15 at 5 p.m.
Most items carried by voice vote recorded in the minutes as "All in favor? Aye. Opposes? Motion carries." The meeting included brief public recognitions — including student Addison Gray and the West Block High School cheer team — and a superintendent remark thanking Alan Franklin, career-tech director at Bibb County Career Academy, for hosting a Bibb County Chamber Coffee.
