Sparrows Point Park opens in southeast Baltimore County with donated site and LEED platinum design

Staff member 1 announced the opening of Sparrows Point Park in southeast Baltimore County, calling it the county’s first new major recreation site in more than two decades and crediting TradePoint Atlantic for donating the site. "This park would not be here without the generous donation from TradePoint Atlantic of this site to be used for this park," Staff member 1 said.
The park occupies 22 acres and includes a 16,000-square-foot recreation center with a double-court gym, two joined community activity rooms and a 10,000-square-foot, fully accessible playground, according to remarks made at the opening. The site features synthetic turf, LED lighting, a walking path to waterfront access, and an ADA-accessible fishing pier and pipe launch.
Staff member 1 described the project as the county’s first LEED Platinum–designed project, noting it as evidence of Baltimore County’s commitment to environmentally friendly design. "Sparrows Point Park highlights Baltimore County's significant and historic investment in recreational facilities," Staff member 1 said.
At the ribbon-cutting, Staff member 2 offered brief remarks of appreciation for partners and community members involved in the project, saying, "It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I stand here today alongside, again, amazing partners in this work. I hope that this is an amenity and a gem that people get to enjoy for generations to come."
