Board advances first readings of AED, school security and driver policies to regular meeting

The policy committee held first readings and approved forwarding four policies to the regular board meeting for final action:

- Policy 822 (Automated External Defibrillator and CPR): a new district policy intended to codify existing practice requiring AEDs and CPR‑trained staff in district buildings; committee members agreed to change the opening language so the district, not “the board,” is committed to providing a safe environment.

- Policy 805.2 (School Security Personnel): the policy clarifies the role and duties of the Safe Schools Coordinator and school security personnel, aligning with state grant requirements and the district’s use of grant funds.

- Policy 810.1 (School Bus Drivers and Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers): new language aligns district expectations with federal CDL rules and the transportation contract currently in place.

- Policy 810.3 (School Vehicle Drivers): this policy addresses non‑CDL drivers — for example coaches transporting students — and adds an extra layer of safety requirements for those drivers.

Each policy presenter described changes and said the wording aligns the district with state grant conditions and federal driver requirements; the committee voted to forward all four policies to the regular board meeting.
