Fairview approves four subdivision development agreements after runoff, wetland and planning concerns

The Fairview Board of Commissioners on March 20 approved four subdivision development agreements for Wynwood Park and Woodwick Cove, while hearing public concerns about sediment runoff and wetlands protection tied to nearby construction.

The board voted 5–0 to authorize subdivision development agreements that together cover 73 new residential lots. The approvals include bond amounts the city will require to guarantee site reclamation and site performance for each phase.

The approvals matter to neighbors because several commissioners and a public commenter said runoff from nearby Orange Shire development has already caused sediment to reach adjacent private property and local lakes. City staff and legal counsel told the board that Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) rules govern erosion- and sediment-control permits and that TDEC enforces penalties for violations.

The board’s action The board passed the four subdivision agreements in sequence after staff presentations and several questions from commissioners. Each resolution passed by roll-call vote with Commissioner Roberts, Vice Mayor McDonald, Commissioner Hall, Commissioner Buffalini and Mayor Anderson recorded as voting “Aye.” No “No” votes or abstentions were recorded on these items.
