State Sen. Nick Pisatano, who identified himself at the March 19 meeting as the new state senator for the “40 Fifth District” that includes communities in the Woodland Hills footprint, told the board he is visiting local elected bodies to introduce his office and to offer assistance to school districts.
“We want you guys to feel that you can go to [Rob Roderick] with anything big or small. Of course, you can come directly to me, but I'm a little bit harder to nail down sometimes,” Pisatano said, introducing Rob Roderick as his office's local government liaison.
Pisatano also said there may be momentum in Harrisburg to update Pennsylvania’s charter-school law, citing a recent report by the auditor general that, in his view, called attention to problems created by the current statute. “That report from a Republican elected official, I think signals that maybe we can make some updates there,” he said, and added that the charter-school statute dates to 1973 and has not been amended, noting technological and other changes since then.
He told the board his office maintains district and satellite offices, including in locations within the Woodland Hills area, and encouraged school officials and residents to contact his office for assistance.
Ending: Pisatano left his business cards and asked district officials to reach out with questions or issues; his staff contact, Rob Roderick, was identified as the district liaison.
