The Senate Committee on Transportation, Culture and the Arts voted to pass House Bill 1167, House Draft 1, with amendments that change the effective date to July 1, 2025, and will note a requested emergency appropriation of $1,000,000 from State Highway funds to the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Tammy Lee, Deputy Director for Administration at the Department of Transportation, testified in support and provided the appropriation amount, saying, "the requested appropriation amount for your consideration ... is from the State Highway funds and the request is for a million." The committee’s decision-making discussion recorded that the committee would note the $1,000,000 request in the committee report as the bill moves to the Ways and Means Committee.
On the recommendation to pass HB1167, House Draft 1, with the date amendment, the roll call recorded affirmative votes from Chair Lee, Senator Kanuha and Senator Decor; Vice Chair Inouye was recorded as excused. The committee adopted the recommendation and will forward the bill and committee report to the Ways and Means Committee for further fiscal consideration.
