After brief interviews with two candidates for one open seat on the Portsmouth Planning Board, the council appointed Mr. Kloukies by voice vote on Feb. 10.
Councilors interviewed both candidates in open session: Mr. Kloukies, a Portsmouth resident who described long local residency, real‑estate management experience and community volunteer work, and Mr. Lambert, a developer with prior planning‑board service in Sunrise, Fla., and experience in commercial and residential development. Each candidate answered questions about planning‑board experience, potential conflicts of interest and priorities for town planning.
Council discussion acknowledged both candidates were qualified. A councilor moved to appoint Mr. Kloukies; a second followed and the council approved the appointment 6–0. The council asked the new appointee to be sworn in the next morning and for staff to schedule an orientation with planning staff.
Action: motion to appoint Mr. Kloukies to the Planning Board passed 6–0.
