Jamie Sherry, director of community development for Goochland County, briefed the Planning Commission on upcoming public hearings, community meetings and master-plan presentations during the March 20 meeting.
Sherry told commissioners the Board of Supervisors will conduct public hearings on April 15. Items scheduled for that meeting include an application by Strickland Manufacturing in District 3 to amend an existing conditional use permit; an application in District 4 by Rodney Harrison to renew a conditional use permit for retail sales (outbuildings and playground equipment); an application by Bridal and Marta Vinson in District 4 to amend an existing conditional use permit to eliminate the housing-size limit for a detached accessory family dwelling unit; an application by Columbia Gas Transmission to amend an existing conditional use permit to add an office building; and an application in District 5 by Corey and Janine Hoffer to rezone a property on Patterson Avenue to residential-office for professional use.
Sherry also said the Planning Commission will hold its organizational meeting on April 17, which will include election of a chair and vice chair and a review of planning commission bylaws. The April 17 meeting will include presentations on the county utility master plan and the parks and recreation master plan.
A community meeting is scheduled for April 9 at 6 p.m. on site at 207 Echo Meadows Road; the applicant listed is Travis Johnson for an unhosted short-term rental application. Sherry reminded members and the public of three upcoming district town halls: District 1 on March 24 at 6 p.m. at Byrd Elementary School; Districts 4 and 5 on March 27 at 6 p.m. at the Residence Inn Hotel at the Notch; and Districts 2 and 3 on March 31 at 6 p.m. at the County Administration Building boardroom.
Sherry closed the update with no action requested; the items listed were informational and scheduled for the Board of Supervisors and other upcoming meetings.
