Dyersburg aldermen approved a series of procurement items during Monday's meeting, awarding repair and upgrade contracts and confirming an ARPA-funded park lighting purchase.
The council voted to award a repair contract for solid-waste dozer Unit 506 to Thompson Machinery for $16,899.33; the motion was moved by Dennis Moody and seconded by Rick Crawford and carried by voice vote.
The council also awarded a replacement for a more than-30-year-old wastewater intermediate gearbox to Applied Industrial Technologies (Jackson, Tennessee) for $38,995.60 after receiving two bids; the other bid was from Guthrie Sales and Service for $59,110.00. The item was described as a budgeted repair/maintenance expense and was approved by motion (mover: Coach Cole; second: unidentified on record) and carried by voice vote.
A budgeted audiovisual upgrade at the Professional Development Center, funded entirely by an opioid grant received by Dyer County, was awarded to Professional Audio Installation of Martin, Tennessee, for $32,405.24. The council noted the project is paid in full by the county grant and will not cost the city. The motion to approve the award was moved by James Baltimore and seconded by Coach Cole; it passed by voice vote.
Council members were informed that pickleball-court lighting would be installed through ARPA funds and that the awarded vendor was the Dyersburg Electric System at $14,055.17. Because the lighting work is an approved ARPA budget item, the council did not require a motion to authorize that purchase and the expenditure was reported as completed.
All board motions on the listed bids passed by voice vote with no recorded opposing votes.
