The Alamogordo Public Schools Board of Education on March 19 approved a consent agenda that included vendor contracts, multiple budget adjustment requests and a slate of community donations, and it authorized out‑of‑state travel for Alamogordo High School HOSA students to the Future Health Professionals international conference in Nashville, Tenn.
The consent list covered award recommendations for E‑Rate categories, multiple contracts (for accounting, communications, broadband and IT services), and dozens of budget adjustments across operational, food service and capital accounts. The consent items also listed donated goods and cash to the Tiger Care Center and student groups, totaling about $3,835 in named donations plus larger donated coat collections and other items noted in the packet.
During discussion board members queried the food service reimbursement line ("Universal Free Meals") and were told by staff that the state reimbursement fund will be used before year end to offset food‑service expenditures; staff said they expected full use of the allocation before June 30. Board members also received updates that Chaparral design revisions reflected reduced PSFA contributions in the district's favor.
The board approved the consent agenda and the out‑of‑state travel request by voice votes with no opposition. The HOSA travel was explained as contingent on students qualifying at state competitions; staff said up to 7–10 students typically attend the international conference.
