Votes at a glance: Carroll County board approves agenda, adds Sharp Creek field trip, authorizes executive session and approves personnel actions

At its March meeting the Carroll County Board of Education took several routine actions: it approved the meeting agenda, amended the consent agenda to add a Sharp Creek Elementary overnight field trip, approved the consent agenda as amended, authorized an executive session to discuss specific exempt matters, and approved personnel actions after the executive session.

Board members moved and seconded the motion to amend the consent agenda to include a Sharp Creek Elementary field trip that staff clarified is an overnight trip and not out of state. “It’s actually, overnight. Overnight. That’s okay. To quote so it’s not out of state. It’s overnight,” a board member clarified during discussion. The board then approved the amended consent agenda.

Later the superintendent recommended the board meet in executive session “to discuss the future acquisition of real estate safety and security personnel pending or threatened litigation and recommendations that are exempt from disclosure under the Open Records Act,” language offered by the chair. A motion to enter executive session was made and seconded and carried by voice vote; Ms. Sandra Morris was recorded as voting in favor. After returning from executive session the board approved personnel actions as presented by the superintendent; a motion and second carried and Ms. Morris again indicated “Yes.”

The meeting closed with routine board comments and adjournment. One board member noted the group would attempt to re-take a missed photo at the April meeting.
