Carroll County board approves 12-month natural gas contract with Gas South at $0.71 per therm

The Carroll County Board of Education voted at its March meeting to award a 12-month natural gas supply contract to Gas South, the district’s current provider, after staff reported Gas South submitted the low bid.

The recommendation came after the district solicited five bids for natural gas. “Gas South was our low bid at 0.71 price per therm for the next 12 months,” said Mr. Harden, a staff member who presented the procurement results. He told the board the district recommends contracting with Gas South at that price for the coming 12 months.

Dr. Brooks asked whether the district had used Gas South previously; Harden responded, “Yes. Our current provider.” A board member moved to accept the Gas South bid and another board member seconded the motion. The motion carried; Ms. Sandra Morris verbally indicated “Yes” during the voice vote.

The board did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting minutes excerpt provided; the motion was passed and the contract was described as a 12-month supply agreement at $0.71 per therm. The solicitation was reported to have closed March 3 and included five bids in total.
