School board waives regulation, approves educational facilities planning steering committee appointments

Board counsel and staff advised that the regulation permits appointments to be posted and brought forward for vote at a later meeting. The board voted to waive the regulation after a motion to suspend it and a second; the roll call showed the motion to suspend was approved. Following that vote, a motion to approve the posted list of candidates was moved and seconded and passed by roll call.
Board members said they wanted the steering committee work to proceed without delay; one member said time was of the essence with the end of the school year approaching. The updated list of appointees was available to the public at the meeting, and the board chair called the vote after brief remarks and congratulations to those appointed. The board did not enumerate the full list of names on the floor during the public portion of the meeting; staff confirmed an updated list had been posted.
