Jones said he has requested a contractor provide a proposal for staining courthouse woodwork and that he will bring a sample of baseboard to the contractor for color matching.
On the Civil War monument, Jones said he checked and believes adding a name is feasible; space may be limited on the north side (where a Spanish–American War veteran is currently listed), and Jones said the monument stone is hard but could be re-engraved. He suggested adding an internal hallway display to present names and historical information — including documentation about an 1857 Confederate cannon from Richmond, Virginia — because many names on the monument are hard to read.
No formal board action or vote was recorded on the monument engraving or the staining proposal at the meeting; the items were presented as committee updates and staff follow-up.
