Trustees report on tornado cleanup, veterans job fair, Fred Gray symposium and local events

Multiple trustees used their reports at the March 20, 2025 meeting to update the board on community services and recent events.

Trustee Conkle thanked Public Works for a quick response to storm damage on March 15 and said contractor crews will fully replace storm-damaged fence poles while village crews repair panels that were only partially damaged. "If the fence had a pole that was damaged as part of the storm, we're gonna have a contractor come in and replace those completely rather than just try to affect a repair," the public-works report said in the meeting.

Trustee Olbeck noted nearby Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs offices in Schaumburg and Palatine and reminded residents that Hanover Township is hosting a job fair March 24 with the first hour dedicated to veterans. Olbeck encouraged residents to contact township or trustee offices for veteran services and transportation assistance. "Hanover Park is gonna be at Hanover Township. The first hour is for veterans," a trustee said on the record.

Trustee Magnacoli summarized takeaways from the Fred Gray National Symposium in Montgomery, Ala., highlighting municipal approaches to supporting separated federal workers and concerns about social-security access. She noted other municipalities are creating consolidated websites and career-transition resources and suggested the village consider township transportation services and other local assistance programs.

Trustees also referenced Restaurant Week highlights and upcoming community activities, including an April 5 egg hunt for pets and ongoing outreach by village staff. The meeting record shows no executive session was scheduled for the evening.
