The Greater Clark County Schools Board of Trustees on March 11 opened two public hearings on proposed construction projects and adopted the resolutions and contracts needed to move the projects forward.
The board opened a public hearing on a proposed new elementary school and, after hearing no public comment, adopted three related resolutions by single motion: to authorize execution of an amendment to an existing lease used in district lease financings with the Greater Clark Building Corporation; to authorize that corporation to issue bonds for the project; and to appropriate the bond proceeds for the elementary project. The board then opened a second public hearing on a new middle school, received no public comment and adopted the same three types of resolutions for the middle school project.
Thomas Peterson, who presented the items, told trustees the petition period for referenda had closed and that the Clark County Election Board certified no petition was filed in either case. Peterson recommended the board adopt all three resolutions for each project; trustees approved them by voice vote.
