Haverhill assessor reviews homeowner tax-abatement options ahead of April 1 deadline

City Assessor Christine Webb told the Haverhill City Council on March 11 that a range of homeowner tax exemptions are available for 2024 and urged eligible residents to apply by April 1.
Webb, introduced by Vice President Timothy Jordan, said Haverhill offers exemptions based on low income and low assets, an exemption for people who are legally blind and service-related disabled veteran exemptions requiring a DD-214 and a disability letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs. She said the city voted in fiscal 2023 to provide an additional 40% above the state base exemption amounts.
