The Framingham City Council voted March 24 to adopt a traffic commission recommendation to prohibit parking on the west side of Hollis Street (Route 120/6) between Boris Way and Claflin Street.
Representatives from AutoBright and other neighborhood stakeholders described chronic daytime parking that encroaches on driveways and narrows the entrance and exit from businesses. Patrick Miseso of AutoBright told the council he provided photographs showing cars that "park out there every day, and they stay there all day," impeding larger vehicles and reducing sight lines for drivers attempting to exit onto Hollis.
Traffic commission members and Public Works staff recommended no‑parking signs and enforcement. Councilors said the change is primarily a safety measure; Councilor Lambrino (Lambruno in transcript) called the situation an "accident waiting to happen." The council moved and approved the change by roll call after discussion and a field review by staff.
Councilors and business owners said the signage is the first step; they expect enforcement and the potential to revisit the restrictions if problems persist. The change will be implemented by Public Works and enforced by the police department once signs are installed.
The vote was recorded by roll call at the March 24 meeting and the measure passed.
