Board of Health nominates Christian Rivera as Framingham representative to East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project

The Framingham Board of Health voted to forward the nomination of Christian Rivera to serve as the city’s representative on the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project. The motion to support the nomination passed 4-0 during the board’s virtual meeting.

The nomination began when Bill, the health director, told the board that Bethany Yates had resigned and that the department would propose Christian Rivera, a public health inspector in the health department, to replace her as the city’s representative. Bill said the representative attends the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project executive board meetings and reports back on regional mosquito-control work such as larviciding and adulticide spraying.

Board member [name recorded as Karen Beauregard] seconded the motion. The board voted 4 in favor, 0 opposed, 0 abstentions to move the nomination forward for the required public process: review by the appointment subcommittee and then a vote by the City Council.

The board noted the appointment is an internal nomination that must follow the city’s appointment procedures. The health director said the nominee would “come back and advise the board on what’s been happening within that group.”
