Brandon, an Engage Franklin staff member, told the Franklin Tourism Commission that the organization has secured event bookings and sponsorships and is preparing a new visitor guide.
Brandon said DY Sports, a youth‑sports organizer, completed a site visit and "already signed their contract for the 2 tournaments in June and July" at the MOSH sports facility. Brandon reported DY Sports aims to host monthly tournaments eventually and that after reviewing MOSH the group estimated the venue could host up to 60 teams per tournament. He said the organization hosted about 2,500 teams last year across its events and projects 4,000 teams for the upcoming year; typical weekends draw roughly 40 to 50 teams.
Brandon said the MOSH facility includes multiple courts and is about "70,000 square foot," which allows simultaneous play across basketball, pickleball, volleyball and futsal courts. Engage Franklin staff said they will list recommended lodging on the registration site and promote area hotel partners on Engage Franklin’s website and visitor materials.
Staff also reported a visitors' guide is due next month, with Laura and Brandon working on the publication. Engage Franklin secured sponsorships for the website and the Engage Franklin brand; staff said Rock Ventures will incorporate Engage Franklin branding into event announcements and promotional videos ahead of an opening day. Brandon also noted a promotional package with winter ski‑hill partners is planned to coincide with the November ski season.
Commissioners discussed Franklin Park concerts and funding: Engage Franklin staff relayed a sponsorship amount but the exact figure was unclear in discussion (speakers referenced $200, $500 and recalled that in recent years the commission budgeted $1,000). Mark Wiley said he would verify the amount with Engage Franklin at their next board meeting.
Brandon said Engage Franklin gave away 5,000 coupons at a recent golf show that included local partners on the coupon; staff reported the coupons were all distributed. The commission said video and virtual tours of venues will be posted on Engage Franklin’s YouTube channel; Brandon said scheduled venue video tours include the Polish Center, Milwaukee Sports Complex and other local venues.
Commissioners welcomed the MOSH bookings as an opportunity for local hotels and restaurants to capture event visitor spending and asked staff to continue coordinating lodging recommendations and promotional packages.
