The Franklin City Plan Commission on March 20 recommended that the Common Council approve a resolution authorizing installation of a fence within a 30-foot landscape easement on Lot 22 of Riverview Pointe subdivision, property at 6575 W. River Pointe Drive.
Staff explained the application follows a prior pool permit submission and that building code requires pools to be enclosed by a fence; the requested fence would encroach into the plat-restricted landscape buffer where fences are normally prohibited unless the council approves an exception. Staff recommended approval and noted a technical correction identified by the city attorney.
A motion to recommend approval (with the technical correction) carried by voice vote. Staff said the commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Common Council for final action; the city attorney and staff will ensure the resolution language is corrected before submission.
The commission affirmed that the matter does not need to return to the zoning board of appeals and that the item is a standard administrative exception tied to the pool enclosure requirement. The applicant and staff must satisfy the technical corrections prior to final council consideration and permit issuance.
