The Planning Commission recommended approval of a major S-1 zoning revision to permit a preschool and playground at 562 Rowntree Way, the InFocus Church property.
Planning staff (Ms. Mistry) said the parcel is 11.18 acres and is currently used by InFocus Church; the church already has 10 classrooms that would be used for the preschool. Staff described the property’s context—townhomes and apartments to one side and C-2 commercial zoning to the other—and said the future-development map places the site within the Evans Activity Center, where churches and schools are an anticipated use of the activity center. Staff recommended approval. The applicant (Heather Huggins) was present.
Staff said the proposed preschool hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and that there is ample parking on site so the preschool would not interfere with church uses. A planning commission member moved to recommend approval of RZ20532 (major S-1 revision to allow preschool at 562 Rowntree Way); another member seconded and the motion passed on a voice vote. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for final action.
