The Columbia County Planning Commission approved five temporary-use authorizations (TUAs) to support operations of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur golf tournament on multiple parcels associated with Champions Retreat and nearby sites.
Planning staff (Dylan Douglas) presented five TUA applications covering: temporary facilities dispersed across the Championship Retreat golf course (concessions, tents, bathroom trailers, TV towers); the player welcome area with TV towers and structures; a parcel near Champions Parkway for office trailers and a restroom trailer serving tournament operations and security; the golf-course maintenance parcel for operational trailers, radio repeater, golf-cart charging and associated support (including rollaway dumpsters); and an off-site employee parking location at Grace Baptist Church with shuttle pickup/drop-off tents, a restroom trailer and an office trailer. A separate TUA covered a security checkpoint tent on Champions Parkway.
Staff recommended approval of the temporary structures and facilities for all five parcels as presented. A planning commission member moved to approve; another seconded and the motion carried on a voice vote. No public opposition was recorded at the hearing.
The TUAs authorize temporary, event-related structures; any conditions or detailed permitting requirements will be enforced through the county’s permitting process and event coordination with tournament organizers.
