District administrators told trustees on March 19 that personnel changes this year reflect both long-term enrollment decline and program licensure shifts. Doctor Lohse presented the personnel report and outlined the district’s recommended staffing changes, saying the district had restructured or eliminated 14 licensed positions for the 2025–26 school year.
“We did make the decision to restructure and or eliminate 14 licensed staff positions for the 20 25, 26 school year,” Doctor Lohse said. “The majority of these positions were removed due to extremely low class sizes and or caseloads, and some of it was related to some programmatic changes requiring different licensure.”
Lohse said that most licensed staff were able to be reassigned to existing positions because of retirements and resignations, but that the district recommended an honorable dismissal for one music teacher, Jessica Goodread. Lohse asked the board to approve the attached resolution for Goodread’s honorable dismissal.
The personnel report also listed multiple resignations, reassignments, ESP (educational support personnel) hires and retirements recorded in the board packet; administration recommended approval of the entire personnel report as presented.
Why it matters: restructuring and dismissals change classroom staffing and services. The board handled the personnel motion during the action portion of the agenda and recorded the vote.
