The Ohio County Fiscal Court approved a lump-sum engineering contract with AEI for the Fenister Street (bride/bridal) bridge project.
County officials said the project’s total cost is approximately $415,000. The state is expected to provide $355,000; the county’s local share was described during the meeting as about $59,000. The AEI contract is a $40,000 portion of that local share for engineering review of final plans and bid documents — a step recommended by the state to secure the larger award. The county has already paid an initial $4,900 toward the AEI contract, according to court remarks.
Judge Johnson said this is likely the only remaining wood bridge in the county and that the state-approved specs are in the packet. A motion to accept AEI’s contract was made and seconded; the court approved the contract by roll call. Members said no construction start date was available at the meeting.
Court members emphasized that the AEI engineering review is part of the previously agreed local contribution and not an additional expense beyond the $59,000 local match discussed earlier.
