City staff: Indigenous sculpture installation to begin this spring; pilot historical video series in development

After city council approval on Feb. 10, staff are finalizing an agreement with artist Duane Goodwin for an Indigenous sculpture to be installed mid-summer; coordination has resumed on a pilot episode of a historical video series with Moorhead Community Access Media and the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County.
City staff told the Moorhead Arts and Culture Commission on March 17 that work on an Indigenous sculpture and a companion historical video series is moving forward after recent approvals.
"After approval by city council at the February 10 meeting, City staff has been working with the selected artist, Duane Goodwin, to finalize the agreement for the proposed sculpture installation," Ethan, a city staff member, said. He said work will begin this spring and the installation is anticipated to be completed toward the middle of the summer.
Ethan also said coordination between city staff, the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County and Moorhead Community Access Media has resumed to develop a pilot episode of the planned historical video series; staff said more details will be presented at future meetings.
The commission did not take additional formal action at the March 17 meeting; staff will continue negotiating the artist agreement and return with implementation details and timelines.
