The Town of Babylon Zoning Board of Appeals approved variances on March 20, 2025 to allow a second‑floor addition at 362 Arnold Avenue in West Babylon.
Applicants Jessica Kristen Bartlett (formerly Baiada Silva) and Ryan Bartlett requested relief for multiple yard setbacks because the existing 1920s‑era house does not meet current zoning. The board approved diminishing the front yard setback from 30 feet to 19.1 feet, the south side yard from 25 feet to 5.4 feet, and the total side yards to 19.4 feet. The applicants said they will maintain the existing footprint and build up to add additional bedrooms.
Jessica Bartlett said the second floor would add bedrooms to increase living space: “we're just going up. We love where we live,” she told the board. The applicants said the project would convert interior space so the final home would have four bedrooms and — after a dormer — two bathrooms upstairs.
No members of the public spoke on the application. A motion to approve application 25‑029 was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board record includes a planning division memo and a survey submitted with the application.
